According to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, which cited American and Israeli sources, Israel has decided to postpone an anticipated invasion of Gaza for the time being in order to allow the US to quickly deploy missile defences to the area in order to defend its forces.
According to the article, Israel is also intending to provide humanitarian supplies to Gaza’s civilian population in addition to pursuing diplomatic measures to rescue captives held by Hamas fighters.
It said that threats against US forces were of utmost importance.

The military and other authorities of the United States think that once the invasion of the Palestinian territories held by Hamas begins, terrorist organisations would target their soldiers.
The Journal claims that the US is moving quickly to station about a dozen air defence systems in the area.
According to Reuters on Monday, as it works to rescue additional captives and be ready for a potential larger regional conflict, Washington recommended Israel to postpone a ground invasion in the Gaza Strip and is keeping Qatar, a middleman with the Palestinian militants, informed of those discussions.
