Liora Itzhak an Israeli girl who is trending on the Internet for many good reasons. Yes, she has chosen to sing the national anthems of both Israel and India in order to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Israel. Liora was born in Israel to Indian immigrant parents from Mumbai and she always aspired to become a famous Bollywood singer.
However, she had to abandon her dream in the 1990s due to homesickness. Actually, she came to India when she was 15 years old to study Indian classical music at Sur Sarvadhan Institute in Pune. After learning Indian classical music with gurus like Padma Talwarkar, Pandit Suresh Talvarkar she also learned light bhajan and ghazal singing between 1991 and 1998. With the welcoming of Narendra Modi, she wishes to re-live her Bollywood dream yet again.
Not only this, Liora even got Bollywood break when she got an opportunity to sing in the movie Dil ka Doctor. She also sang along with renowned Indian singers like Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Sonu Nigam during this period. However, gradually she started feeling homesickness as she stayed away from her family for 8 long years. She refused many big Bollywood offers that came her way and decided to come back to her family living in Israel.
“I was 23 and terribly homesick having spent eight years away in difficult conditions from my parents and siblings. I love India but I just could not bear this separation anymore.”
She started pursuing her singing career while staying in Israel and got famous in the year 2016 when she released her number Mala Mala in Israel. She is now has become a popular name in the Israeli musical industry. On a reminding note, she will sing at the dinner hosted by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu in honor of Modi, who will be first Indian PM to visit the Jewish state from July 4.
