Jallikattu controversy is soaring day by day, as an estimated data, more than 5000 Jallikattu supporters gathered at Chennai’s marina beach, protesting for seeking permission for holding Jallikattu. As last year, Supreme Court put a ban on Jallikattu.

What is Jallikattu?

Jallikattu is a bull taming sport played in Tamil Nadu as a part of a ritual of Pongal harvest festival. Bulls are bred by the people of a specific village and are the main part of the tradition followed by Pongal festivities. Animal activists and PETA India protested against this practice since 2004 as it leads to human injuries and fatalities. 

The Supreme Court of India has banned the practice in May 2014 in concern of citing animal welfare issues. The Government of India passed an issue taking rituals and traditions into account associated with the Jallikattu, reversing the Supreme Court ban on January 8, 2016. However, on 14 January 2016, the Supreme Court of India upheld its ban on the event, leading to protests all over Tamil Nadu.

On the current situation in Chennai Indian cricketer, Ravichandran Ashwin has urged before people that are protesting against a ban on Jallikattu. He took Twitter to made his plea and tweeted:
