Janhvi Kapoor is all set to star in Gunjan Saxena’s biopic The Kargil Girl. Janhvi debuted in Bollywood with film Dhadak opposite Ishan Khattar. Wih The Kargil Girl, she will return to the silver screen after almost one and a half year since her debut. The makers of the film recently released the first look of the film by releasing three posters. Janhvi took to her Instagram to share the poster and wrote, “Gunjan Saxena -#TheKargilGirl, Releasing on the 13th of March, 2020.”
In the second poster, Janhvi is seen donning her uniform and she walks amidst a crowd of men clapping.
The third poster shows Janhvi’s character hugs Pankaj Tripathi who plays her father’s role in the film. The message on the poster reads, “Meri Beti Ki Udaan Koi Nahin Rok Sakta”.
The film is a biopic of first female Indian Air Force combat pilot and first female Shaurya Chakra recipient Gunjan Saxena. She played a significant role in picking the injured soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
Who was Gunjan Saxena?
Gunjan Saxena, an Indian Airforce pilot is the pride of India. The grand mayhem and roaring victory of India in the Kargil War showed the world what we were capable of, and more. Gunjan Saxena, the daring daughter of India played a courageous role in the war. She made history as she flew into a combat zone during the War. For this courageous task, she was later bestowed with the Shaurya Chakra- an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice while not engaged in direct action with the enemy.

She and another courageous pilot, Srividya Rajan were the first ladies to fly into combat zone. Flight Officer Gunjan Saxena flew her chopper to airdrop essential supplies to Indian troops at high points in the Dras and Batalik sectors during the war. She also picked up the wounded/dead bodies from steep and unruly mountain ranges and informed her seniors of the enemy positions and status.
