“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure, you have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, wildly and imaginatively.”
Youth is a power of a nation, undoubtedly, a young mind has a potential to create magics. With 356 million population of youngsters, India has the world’s largest youth population. And our nation has already given us a day to celebrate the young, free and wild attitude of this beautiful age of consent.
India declared January 12 as a ‘National Youth Day’ since 1985. Why 12 January? Because it is the birth anniversary of the social reformer, philosopher, and great thinker Swami Vivekananda. The main aim behind this move was to indulge students and youth with the ideology and philosophy of Swamiji, the man who brought down the change in the thought process of the youth. The nation wants to encourage and inspire the youth to follow a successful journey that makes their nation feel proud worldwide.
Swami Vivekananda is an inspiring soul who clearly said that the youth of a nation determine its success. On September 11, 1893, he delivered a speech in Chicago that made him a hero. His starting lines “Sisters and brothers of America” earned him a 2-minute long standing ovation and we can imagine well what effect the rest of his speech would’ve had.
He is an inspiration for many prominent leaders like PM Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Arvind Kejriwal, US president Barack Obama, Yog Guru Baba Ramdev and social activist Anna Hazare. Vivekananda left for the heavenly abode on July 4, 1902, at the age of 39 but his legacy is kept alive by the Indian government in the form of ‘National Youth Day’.
So you all lovely young people out there, recognize your inner strength and start chasing your dreams!
Be wild, Have fun.
Live fast and Die young.
