Famous as Amma Tamil Nadu’s former CM and former actress Jayalalitha has a number of interesting facts to her name. She was died on December 5, 2016, in Chennai’s Apolo Hospital due to cardiac arrest. Before stepping into the political world, Jayalalitha was an actress and her first film got adult (A) certificate and she herself didn’t watch her movie. The reason behind it was her teenage.
She was born on February 24, 1948, in Mysore and was only 2 years old when her father died. After this, her mother along with her shifted to her parent’s house in Bangalore. It is said that Jayalalitha had learned Bharatnatyam at the age of 3. She started her acting career just at age 15.
She made her debut as the lead actress in Kannada films while still in school, age 15, in Chinnada Gombe (1964). Jayalalithaa’s debut in Tamil cinema was the leading role in Vennira Aadai (1965). She made her debut in Telugu films as the lead actress in Manushulu Mamathalu opposite Akkineni Nageshwara Rao. Her last Telugu release was also opposite Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the film Nayakudu Vinayakudu, which was released in 1980. She was the first heroine to appear in skirts in Tamil films.
She also worked in a Hindi film called Izzat, opposite Dharmendra in 1968. Jayalalitha worked in 130 films and starred in 28 box-office hit films with M.G. Ramachandran. For her fine acting skills, she won 3 Filmfare awards in South cinema.
In 1982, she joined the AIADMK, which was founded by MGR. She became the state’s youngest chief minister, and the first woman to serve a full term, serving from 24 June 1991 to 12 May 1996.
