Kabir Singh Review: Movie does justice to Arjun Reddy with Shahid’s stellar performance

Kabir Singh is an official revamp of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. The film graphs the adventure of a hot-headed doctor Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor), whose obsession and possessiveness for his girlfriend leads him on the way to destruction.

Kabir Singh – the sort of beau, who is short tempered, fanatical and would do anything for his girl. He is all in, or nothing by all means. As a senior and a topper in a standout amongst Delhi’s most reputed medical institutes, he wields colossal power. Considering the attitude he has, not many people will be pleased to confront him or come in his way.

For him falling in love with his junior Preeti (Kiara Advani) is in the moment kind of thing, like love at first sight. But for the most part, this movie is far from being the mushy and romantic flick and more about an uber-masculine, testosterone-driven person. In this manner, starts his character journey into the deep dark abyss of chasing the love of his life.

Shahid’s performance gives the character a chance to pull off a great deal of indecencies like womanizing, illicit drug use, alcohol abuse and chauvinism too. For certain, his activities and neglectfulness may appear to be dangerous, however that is obviously his character sketch, and Shahid plays it with full honesty. Shahid Kapoor totally gives up himself to the radicalism of Kabir Singh.

The powerhouse entertainer plays every single shade of Kabir with such energy and flawlessness that his conviction makes you root for him, considering the fact that he is the bollywood’s perfect lover boy.

As for Kiara, her character stays coy and uses silence as her mere tool for performing. With such restricted extension, she never truly gets an opportunity to excel.

Kabir Singh the film is the same film as Arjun Reddy. It is the same story, the same dialogues, the same character, the same. So if you have seen Arjun Reddy, you would know that Shahid Kapoor is merely play-acting, trying to do a Vijay Deverakonda.

The revamp truly does justice to the first but initially Arjun Reddy showed more chemistry between the characters played by Shahid and Kiara.
