It’s been 19 years when JP Dutta’s film Refugee was released. The film was released on June 30, 2000. Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan stepped in Bollywood with this film. It was their debut film. Kareena left Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaho Na Pyar Hai to choose to debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan. However, Kaho Na Pyar Hai turned out as a big hit and refugee tanked at the box office.
To let you know, Kareena Kapoor was in a dilemma to do romantic scenes with Abhishek Bachchan in the film because at that time she treated him like her brother. it is because that time Abhishek Bachchan was engaged to her elder sister Karisma Kapoor. This was revealed by Abhishek Bachchan a few years ago in the popular chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal.
It all happened when Kareena appeared in the show as a guest and Abhishek recorded a video message for her. In a candid confession, Abhishek said, “I will never forgive you for ruining me in that scene because I remember the first thing you ever said to me was that AB this is our first romantic scene together and how can I fall in love with you? You’re like my brother.”
Kareena also told JP Dutta that she didn’t want to do any romantic scene with Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek too revealed that he was thoroughly impressed with Kareena’s confidence and admired that quality about her.
On the professional front, Kareena is busy with the shooting of her upcoming film Good News which also stars Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead.
