Karisma Kapoor makes a comeback after three years with the web series Brown which will be out later this year. In the dark thriller drama, she will be playing a Kolkata police officer, reviving alcoholic named Rita Brown. The actor recently came vocal on how tough it is to set a established career and get the spotlight.
She made her debut at 17 with Prem Qaidi in 1991 which emerged to be a box office hit. She further appeared in projects like Sapne Sajan Ke (1992), Jigar (1992), Raja Babu (1994), Andaz (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), and Hero No. 1 (1997). With the films Raja Hindustani (1996) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), she won many honors like Filmfare and National Film Awards, emerging as the top actors in Bollywood.
While speaking to Film Companion, she mentioned how she had considered each film as th stepping stones of her career. “Today you are so easily recognised with Instagram and social media. We had to slog it out to get noticed. Every movie, be it, a hit, a blockbuster, a flop or meaningful cinema, everything contributed to my career.”
She further added, “I enjoyed doing all my David Ji (David Dhawan) movies as much as I enjoyed working with Yash Ji (Yash Chopra) and Shyam Ji (Shyam Benegal). It was a different time and I was say each movie was special.”
The actor will be now seen in Abhinay Deo directorial Brown which is expected to release later this year.
