On Thursday, the first trailer for Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming movie Kennedy, that will make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, was released. Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone play the key characters in Kennedy, which appears to be a usual Anurag Kashyap thriller with violent action sequences, firearms, dead bodies, and murders.
With violent music blaring in the background, the Kennedy teaser begins with a man questioning, “Bata kitna murder kiye tune.” Rahul Bhat, who attacks and shoots victims while also tossing them off a balcony, is introduced later in the trailer. Bhat plays a former police officer who is “seeking redemption,” according to prior information from the producers.
The official synopsis read, “Presumed dead for years, Kennedy is an insomniac former cop who continues to officiate for a corrupt system while seeking redemption.”
Anurag Kashyap, the director, explained to Variety what inspired him to make Kennedy. He stated: “The idea was to create a character-driven dark nightmare thriller about redemption.” He also revealed that the inspiration for Kennedy came from the police noir novels of Jean-Patrick Manchette and the films of Jean-Pierre Melville.
Kennedy is bankrolled by Anurag’s Good Bad Films and Zee Studios. The film’s release date in India has not yet been announced by the producers.
