According to government reports on Friday, the number of people killed in the October explosion at a Christian religious gathering in the nearby town of Kalamassery has increased to six. Praveen, a 24-year-old native of Malayatoor, passed away on Thursday in a private hospital, according to hospital officials, “He was in the ICU. He passed away at 10.40 PM on Thursday,” as quoted by PTI.
His younger sister Libina passed away from injuries on October 30, the day after the explosions at the Jehovah’s Witness meeting, while his mother, who was gravely injured in the disaster, passed away on November 11.
The medical bulletin listing the number of people receiving treatment after the explosion has not yet been released by the medical board, which is in charge of providing medical care to individuals injured in the incident.
On October 29, at a Jehovah’s Witness meeting, there was an explosion. On the last day of a three-day prayer conference, they had convened.
Two of the women who were present at the party died on the day of the explosion, and Libina passed away on October 30 at the Kalamassery Government Medical College Hospital.
Then on November 6, Moly Joy, 61, of Kalamassery, passed away at a private hospital.
A few hours after the event, Dominic Martin, a guy claiming to be a former Jehovah’s Witness, turned himself in to the police in the Thrissur region and said he was the one who carried out the multiple blast.
His arrest was later documented by the police.
Martin has also been charged under applicable parts of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), in addition to Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act and Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which stipulates the punishment for murder.
