Films are the best entertainment source. India’s first film was Raja Harishchandra made in 1913, produced by Dadasaheb Phalke. It was a silent feature film after then Bollywood boomed. With the immense talent, we have as Bollywood stands at number 2 spot in the world as one of the biggest film producing industries, why there is a need to copy?
We have seen a number of films that were the remakes of Hollywood or other. The upcoming films Bharat is a remake of a Korean film Ode to My Father as announced by the filmmakers. Whereas, film Khamoshi whose trailer released recently seems to be copied from Hollywood film Hush released in 2016.
In this film, a deaf and mute writer who retreated into the woods to live a solitary life must fight for her life in silence when a masked killer appears in her window. As same as in the film Khamoshi’s trailer one can see actress Tamannaah as a deaf and mute girl who is a painter and Prabhu Deva as the lead antagonist. “Hush”, features a similar girl, a serial killer, the girl’s friend (here Bhumika) and friend’s boyfriend.
As soon as the trailer released, the fans started criticizing it over social media to copy the story from film Hush. Whether Khamoshi is a remake of Hush or just a free-make is not known, but one thing is sure, today Indian filmmakers are lacking in the creation.
