It was a star-studded occasion when the National Film Awards were presented on Tuesday in Delhi. A photo from the illustrious event has now surfaced, showing Waheeda Rehman, who won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, with Best Supporting Actress Pallavi Joshi and Best Actress winners Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon.
Now going popular on social media is the picture-perfect frame. In the photo, Kriti could be seen standing next to Waheeda, while Pallavi and Alia were positioned on the opposite side, grinning for the camera.
The Best Actress award went to both Kriti and Alia for their roles in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. Pallavi Joshi won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files.
Waheeda was clicked alongside Alia, her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor, and Best Supporting Actor winner Pankaj Tripathi in another image.
President Droupadi Murmu presented Waheeda with India’s highest cinema distinction when she was inconsolable. She stated in her acceptance speech, “I feel honoured and very humbled. But today where I stand, it’s all because of the lovely industry I have been a part of. Luckily, I got an opportunity to work with top directors, producers, filmmakers, technicians and music directors, who supported me and showered me with lots of love and respect.”
She further added, “Lastly makeup artists, hair and costume designers also deserve a special mention. Hence, I want to share this award with all departments of the film industry. One person cannot make an entire film, it’s a collective effort.”
