Guilt is an insecure feeling that weakens the mental ability of a person. This unpleasant feeling gives rise to PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event, that results in psychological trauma. The popstar’s admission came about two years after she opened up about being sexually assaulted at the age of 19. In an open letter published on her Born This Way Foundation website, she wrote, “It is a daily effort for me, even during this album cycle, to regulate my nervous system so that I don’t panic over circumstances that too many would seem like normal life situations,”. She further added, “I am continuing to learn how to transcend this because I know I can. If you relate to what I am sharing, please know that you can too”.
Gaga said publishing this letter on her Born This Way foundation page was her way to express her battling with PTSD, and she urged others also by saying “overcome the shame” that usually stigmatizes mental illnesses.
In her interview with Stern she said, “After five years of searching for the answers to my chronic pain and the change I have felt in my brain, I am finally well enough to tell you. There is a lot of shame attached to mental illness, but it’s important that you know that there is a hope and a chance for recovery.”
