Scientists believe that ships and aircraft go missing in this area due to the newly discovered underwater craters of gigantic sizes up to half a mile and 150 feet deep. The occurrence of these craters can be explained by the formation of methane gas off the coast of Norway, which is rich in natural gas. This natural gas leaked the methane below the surface of the water and created cavities which burst the gas.
