The most talked and much-awaited film Lipstick Under My Burkha is all set to hit the screens on July 21, 2017. Film’s poster showing a middle finger is already breaking all the barriers of boldness. At first Censor Board of India refused to certify the film saying its ‘lady oriented’, however, the film festivals across the world appreciated the film much and also the film gets awarded.
After winning hearts of the world and after getting applauded overseas now the film is releasing in India. Recently the controversial film releases its trailer and it is bold, sassy and worth a battle with CBFC. The film is directed by Alankrita Srivastava. The leading talents of the Bollywood starred in the film – Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma along with newcomers Aahana Kumar and Polabita Borthakur.
The film narrates the story of four secret lives and four fantasies of different women of India who are trying to find themselves under the shades of Burkha, despite the age and family issues. One of the effective dialogue from the film is “why are you scared of our freedom.” With marked taglines such as ‘the film they didn’t want you to see’ and ‘they called it lady oriented’.
