In Mainpuri, Lucknow, UP, a student of B.Sc final year Sheenu has made a rape-proof undergarment. It took her one month to make this undergarment. This undergarment, made for women safety, consists a sensor and a recorder. According to Sheenu, “Wearing it can protect women from a large extent from becoming the victim of rape. This device will work as a protective armor for ladies.
Sheenu Kumari told,
“The device has been built by using a mobile and an undergarment. It was made with the cost of Rs 4 thousand. A blood-proof cloth has been used, which can not be cut or torn by a knife. The device is equipped with an electronic lock system. One can open it only if he/she knows the password. On pressing the Emergency button present on it, it will directly dial the number 100 and the police will be informed. A GPRS system and a recorder have also installed in it.”

According to Sheenu,
“Looking at the increasing incidents of rape with women and girls, I thought to do something to overcome that. After doing some research, I made a modern undergarment which is actually a women safety device. On December 4, I met the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi and told her about the device. She has referred the device to Professor Anil Gupta of Ahmedabad, but the response has yet to come.”
