Six people have been injured after the train no 12189, Mahakoshal Express derails, travelling from Jabalpur to Delhi, in Kulpahar in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district. The accident took place at around 2 am. The reason behind the accident is yet not known and an investigation has been started.
According to the Ministry of Railways, the rear coaches have been derailed. The unaffected coaches left the site of the accident at 6:45 am and are headed for their destination – Delhi Nizamuddin Railway station.
Manjar Karar, a spokesperson of Northern Railway said that the derailed coaches include one coach of 2nd AC, three coaches of 3rd AC and rest were sleeper coaches. Sources of railway ministry said rescue staff, railway police and administration officials are currently at the spot.
Water and refreshments have been provided to the passengers and local buses have been arranged. The Railways has started helplines at Jhansi, Gwalior, Mathura, Kanpur, Allahabad, Banda, Nizamuddin and New Delhi stations.
