Film director Mahesh Bhatt has been summoned by the NCW in a sexual harassment case. However, he denied not receiving any such notice or summon.
Yogita Bhayana a Social activist and Founder of People Against Rapes in India. Has accused a person named Sunny Verma for duping and exploiting young girls who wish to work in the modeling industry. Regarding this, the notices were also sent to Esha Gupta and Mahesh Bhatt. However, Esha Gupta approached Minister Smriti Irani seeking her intervention in a notice issued by the NCW for connecting the name in this case. She said that I have no idea about this and in fact, she also came to know about this through various tweets and had no clue.
It is now Mahesh Bhatt who has responded to the accusations against him. Clarifying himself before the National Commission for Women he rubbished the claims and released a statement on Vishesh Films’ Instagram handle. He applauded the NCW for taking up the noble cause. And wrote “I salute the National Commission for Women for taking up the noble cause of whistleblowing the vulnerability and exploitation of women. As a father of three girls, I have the highest regard for the cause taken up by Ms. Yogita and the National Commission for Women and express my full cooperation for the crusade. Sd/- Mahesh Bhatt.

Let us tell you that the notices were issued to Urvashi Rautela, Rannvijay Sangha, Esha Gupta, Mouni Roy, and Prince Narula, besides Mahesh, in the case. Earlier, NCW chief Rekha Sharma had tweeted, “Issued notice to @MaheshNBhatt @UrvashiRautela @eshagupta2811 @rannvijaysingha @Roymouni @princenarula88 for the recording of witness statements on a complaint received from Ms @yogitabhayana, Founder @pariforindia, alleging sexual and mental assault on several.
It is being told that in spite of giving the notice these people have neither bothered to respond nor attended the scheduled meeting. NCW has taken serious note of their non-appearance. The meeting has been adjourned to the next date is on August 18 at 11.30 AM. You will be sent formal notices again and non-appearance will be followed by action as per our procedures.”
