Actors, actresses, singers, and musicians from Pakistan are prohibited from entering India following the URI Attack in 2016.A film industry worker’s plea, which called for a ban on Pakistani artists, was considered by the Bombay High Court on Tuesday. He requested in his plea that the Indian celebrities not collaborate with Pakistani musicians. Artists like as Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan have been granted permission by the Bombay High Court justices to participate in Indian films and web series. This judgement is seen as revolutionary.
The Bombay High Court rejected the request to forbid Indian filmmakers from using Pakistani performers, in accordance with Live Law, and stated, ”patriotism is in devotion to country, not enmity towards another.”
The court, which consisted of Justices Sunil B. Shukre and Firdosh P. Pooniwalla, concluded that the petition was without merit and noted that the Indian government had recently made a constructive contribution to the advancement of global peace and security.
The Bombay High Court also declared that there is no merit to this case since, in granting the reliefs, it would be a step backward in the direction of fostering cultural equilibrium, unity, and peace.
India is hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup this year, and Pakistan is one of the nine foreign teams competing for the championship. The Bombay High Court added, referring to the current big competition in India, ”Cricket World Cup being held in India, Pakistan cricket team taking part. This is only because of appreciable positive steps taken by Govt in interest of overall peace & harmony in consonance with Article 51 of Constitution (promotion of international peace, security).”
For those who are unaware, following the URI Attack, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) passed a resolution in 2016 prohibiting collaboration with Pakistani artists.
