Police have arrested a 39-year-old man, identified as Vikas Sachdev, a senior executive of a media and entertainment company, on charges of harassing Dangal actress Zaira Wasim. The incident happened on a Delhi-Mumbai flight on Saturday.
Zaira said that the man sitting behind her seat repeatedly moved his foot up and down her neck and back. She wrote on an Instagram live story:
“The lights were dimmed, so it was even worse. It continued for another 5-10 minutes and then I was sure of it. He kept nudging my shoulder and continued to move his foot up and down my back and neck.”
On the other hand, the airline told ANI that Zaira had not brought the incident to notice of the crew till the flight commenced descent. After landing the crew inquired about the incident and asked Zaira and her mother if they want to file a complaint but they denied.
Meanwhile, Vikas said that he apologised to the actor after finding out that his leg had touched her shoulder, his wife gave an official statement in which she openly supported her husband:
“My husband was coming home from Delhi. His mamaji (maternal uncle) had passed away and he was not in the right frame of mind. He was feeling very low and asked for a blanket. He wanted to sleep. I am shocked at (the actor’s) allegation. The police have taken my husband into custody.”
