A strong earthquake shook north India a little after 2.30 pm on Monday. People from homes and offices and children from schools were rushed outside after tremors of the Earthquake were felt.

The earthquake was monitored to be of a 7.7 magnitude on the Richter scale which was originated in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan as reported by the US Geological Survey or USGS.
Tremors that lasted about 40 seconds were also reported in Pakistan.
Telephone lines and electricity lines were down in Srinagar and other parts of the North India region. The damage is still unknown and yet to be reported.
