Reports from the BCCI have confirmed the arrival of young opening batsman Mayank Agarwal as an inclusion in the Indian squad after the visitors suffer a huge blow from Rohit Sharma’s news of being COVID-19 Positive.
Mayank Agarwal will be tentatively the priority plan for Dravid and management who shall open with young lad Shubman Gill for the final clash against the Englishmen.
The Test is announced to begin on 1st July and Rohit’s recovery seems doubtful while KL Rahul, another opening batsman in the squad, was removed earlier from the list after facing a groin injury because of which he had to travel to Germany for a long recovery break.
KL Rahul had a groin injury and was unavailable for the last test against England. Rohit Sharma too, on Saturday, tested positive for COVID-19, thereafter such acts by Pant might raise serious questions on BCCI and the management after Pant’s engagement with a group of fans.
KS Bharat too was tried out for an alternate choice of opening the innings but with Mayank Agarwal’s arrival, the wicket-keeper might have to wait for some more time until finally getting a chance to showcase his talent in whites.
