The story of 13-year old Gaurika Singh is quite scary as she had survived the frightful experience of natural disaster in Nepal a year ago. The swimmer was available at Kathmandu in April 2015 for national for the national titles when the huge quake struck Nepal bringing about tremendous harm to the nation. A few people were executed and harmed. Talking about her experience to the official Rio Olympics site, Gaurika said:
It was alarming. We were on the fifth floor of a building that we couldn’t escape from, so we protected under a table for 10 minutes amidst the room and needed to go down the stairs a short time later after the tremor took place. Fortunately, it was a new building so it did not collapse like others around. Luckily, it was a distinct building so it did not fell like others around.
Gaurika is presently a goodwill minister of Nepal. She presently lives in England with her family. Her dad Paras Singh is a presumed specialist in the nation. Olympics participation came as a lovely surprise to the adolescent who had always dreamt of competing in the prestigious occasion. Adding words on her daughter’s achievement, her father added – “She’s special. It’s unbelievable that she’s the youngest Olympian in Rio and amazing how she copes with all the pressure.“
Let us all Gaurika Singh wish for the Rio Olympics 2016!
