Michael Flynn, Trump’s National Security Adviser Resigns Over Russian Links

US President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, has resigned in the middle of the blazing controversy about his connection with Russian officials. He was under inspection over whether he discussed the possibility of lifting US sanctions on Russia before Trump took office.

On his resignation, Trump said that he was evaluating the situation talking to Vice President Mike Pence.

Retired General Keith Kellogg was named the acting national security adviser. He has been chief of staff of the White House National Security Council.  Justice Department of the US warned the White House that Flynn could be unsafe to blackmail for contacts with Russian officials.

Sally Yates, the former acting US General, last month told the white house that she believed Flynn had misguided them about the complexion of his communication with the Russian ambassador to the United States.

A retired US Army lieutenant general, Flynn was an early supporter of Trump and he was always in favor of lifting sanctions on Russia.
