Twitter, Instagram, and other social media stages are raging at a couple of new ads launched by perfume brand Layerr Shot. In the new advertisement, ladies are shown getting frightened that they will be sexually assaulted by a couple of men making suggestive comments.
Instagram account user Smish Designs posted the two advertisements on their profile on Saturday. The advertisements have been streaming on TV in the midst of the England vs New Zealand cricket series. In the first advertisement, a man and a girl are shown sharing a private moment in a room when three of his companions just gets in. One of them asks the ‘boyfriend’, “Shot maara (did you take the shot)?” He answers that he did, leaving the girl in shock. One of the other boys then rolls up his sleeves as he moves toward the bed saying, “Ab humari baari (Now it’s our turn).” The girl draws recoils in fear, maybe of being gone attacked. However, the boy gets the perfume bottle from the dresser and she is relieved.
In the second advertisement, the boys are at a mall, standing next to a lone woman shopper. “It’s four of us, and this is only one. Who will take the shot,” they inquire. The shocked lady woman turns around and finds them to be talking about the perfume.
Many Instagram users reacted, “Most terrible ad in the history of television’,” commented a person. “Making adds based on our living breathing fears,” another commented.
