For the film and cinema world it is very important that there are enough cinemas open before more major films can appear on the silver screen. The main market still remains Hollywood’s home market.
And that has a simple reason. Despite the fact that the turnover outside the States continues to increase, the ultimate yield in the States is more important. Outside of the States, a much larger share is left behind with distributors and other partners. In the end, a film studio only sees about 10 to 20% of the turnover in China. In the States, that percentage is quickly three times higher.
Los Angeles and New York
In the States, Los Angeles and New York and environs are the most important cities, as there are many large cinemas in those cities that attract many visitors. Recently several venues were opened in NY and now there are also venues opening in LA.
In the big city, several theaters of the Cinemark Theaters opened their halls last weekend, and more cinemas and chains will follow next week. The largest chain AMC is also opening doors here and there.
Which works out well, given that there are a number of big movies coming up in the near future, with Godzilla vs. Kong , Mortal Kombat and Black Widow . And who doesn’t feel like it? Dutch cinemas will reopen on March 31 at the earliest.
