Pepsico has ended its 11-year-old partnership with Mahendra Singh dhoni, the captain of India’s one -day and Twenty20 cricket teams. MS Dhoni was the face of Pepsico and Lay’s since 2005 and ran two successful campaigns also including ‘ Oh Yes Abhi ‘ and ‘ Change the game ‘.
Vice president of Pepsico Vipul Prakash said that “At PepsiCo, our focus in advertising and marketing is to make our products the hero and celebrate the hero. The idea will always play the most important role. If there’s a role for the celebrity that helps take forward the idea of celebrating our product, we’re more than happy to taking it further.”
Dhoni used to charge 1.50 crores a day and according to Forbes magazine his total annual income from advertisements were 27 million. But now, Virat Kohli is emerging as a new choice for many brands as he is more young, popular among youth. He is said to be charging Rs. 2 crores a day, 50 Lakhs more than Dhoni.
