Mumbai Photographer Wins World’s Most Prestigious BBC Photography Award Beating 50K Entries

However, such commitment to the art positively paid off for this picture taker from Mumbai. Nayan Khanolkar, a wildlife picture taker from Mumbai recently won the Wildlife Photographer of The Year Award at a worldwide challenge organised by the Natural History Museum, London and BBC Wildlife surpassing around 50,000 participants.

As far as the winning photograph is concerned, ‘Alley Cat’ was taken in the Aarey Milk Colony situated on the edge of Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai. The photo demonstrates a single leopard strolling down a void path around evening time. It catches the estimation of local people who acknowledge the wildlife as a part of their day to day life.

The overwhelmed Nayan revealed what he hoped to convey through his winning photograph –

I Wanted to convey that if Co-existence with predators is possible in the centre of a metropolis, there is no reason why it shouldn’t be possible anywhere else in the world. 

Nayan waited for a complete period of 4 months to capture this extraordinary picture! It is surely an enormous respect for the photographer himself and additionally an excellent way to show the world that how incredible photography talent is present in India. Congratulations Nayan.
