Nadira was a popular name in the streets of Indian cinema in the 5th and the 6th decade. After featuring in Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Mr. 420’, people started calling her ‘Mud Mude Ke Na Dekh Girl’. That time, when actresses used to reject grey shade roles, Nadira accepted them with ease. As she believed as an actor, it is her job to play every role perfectly so that it looks realistic on screen. And this is what we called an actor’s job. Nadira liked to play negative roles despite having a beautiful and shy-style persona.
Nadira was introduced to the film industry by Sardar Begum, wife of film director Mehboob Khan, in the film Aan. She not only won audience hearts with her powerful performance but she also became the first actress of Bollywood to buy Rolls Royce. It’s been 12 years she is no more in this world now. Today, December 5 is her 85th birthday.
