The Nagaland government has decided to ban the commercial import and sale of dog and dog meat and therefore import and trading of dogs, are now banned. Nagaland’s Chief Secretary Temjen Toy tweeted Friday saying “The state government has decided to ban the commercial import and trading of dogs, and dog markets, and also the sale of dog meat, both cooked and uncooked,” Earlier it was decided to stop the sale of dog meat but it was not implemented. But the recent information has been given by the top government officials of the state.
After this announcement, many Bollywood stars like Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan have come forward to react positively to the ban on dog meat in Nagaland. Actress Anushka Sharma appreciated the step taken by the government. And apart from her various artists like Varun Dhawan and Fatima Sana Sheikh also came forward and shared similar posts on their Instagram. Earlier this week, animal rights activist and founder of People for Animals Maneka Sanjay Gandhi also made an appeal to the Nagaland government to urge the government to stop the trade and consumption of dog meat.
According to the reports when the pictures of the dogs in the pouch went viral many people reacted to it. Several people pulled up the Nagaland government for allowing the sale of dog meat. Check out the tweets below
