The country witnessed a black day on February 14, 2019 when we lost more than 45 CRPF Jawans in a suicide bomb attack in Pulwama. Along with the common people, many Bollywood celebs took to their social media account to mourn the loss and anger over the cowardly attack. Meanwhile, former cricketer and political leader, Navjot Singh Sidhu made statements which hurt the public sentiment and irked them.
He stated that, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? Terrorism has no dharam, mazhab, zaat aur desh (religion, caste or country).” For his statement, he suffered the backlash, #boycottsidhu trended on Twitter in order to slam him for his statements. He also said that that he condemn such a cowardly act and whoever did this must be punished.
After receiving backlash from opponents and social media for his statement on Pulwama attack, now Navjot Singh Sidhu has been asked have to step down from The Kapil Sharma Show as a judge. It is because people warned them, otheriwise they will boycott the show. He is now replaced by Archana Puran Singh.
Anupam Kher takes a jibe at Navjot Singh Sidhu for his statements, he tweeted that,
Irked by Sidhu’s statements, BJP leader Tajinder Pal Bagga tweeted,
Bagga sent a Payal (anklet) on Sidhu’s Chandigarh residence. To which Sidhu replied, people who are calling him a traitor, just tell me who freed terrorist Masood Azhar in 1999?” He targeted the BJP government. Masood Azhar is the founder and leader of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed, which took the responsibility for the Pulwama suicide bomb attack.
