A day after Navjot Singh Sidhu new political party made it clear that it was open to an alliance with the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, once again they said that will not align with the Congress led by Capt Amarinder Singh”.
A joint statement by Sidhu, Pargat Singh and the Bains brothers of Ludhiana, sent toThe Indian Express, said any alliance with the Congress could happen only with the rider that they would not have any political relationship with Amarinder for his “dubious, behind-the-curtain deals with the Badals [the chief minister’s family]”.
The Aam Aadmi Party has said nothing about the party announcement. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi had met Navjot Singh Sidhu in Delhi a few days ago.Sources close to Kishor said his meeting with Sidhu had been a personal one and had nothing to do with the Congress.
After the front’s demand, a senior Congress leader said “The Congress campaign is Captain-centric. Perhaps Awaaz-e-Punjab does not know what it means by Congress minus Amarinder.”
