Streaming juggernaut Netflix has received a legal notification from a political analyst regarding an episode of The Big Bang Theory that he alleges contains a “derogatory term” against actor Madhuri Dixit.
In the legal notification, political analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar requests that the streamer remove the first episode of season two where Kunal Nayyar’s Raj Koothrapalli and Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper compare Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit.
Kumar argues in the legal notice that Kunal’s character’s comments are both offensive and defamatory. He has threatened legal action against the streamer unless they take down the offending episode for encouraging discrimination against women. The legal notice was posted at the Netflix’s office in Mumbai.
“It is important to hold companies like Netflix accountable for their actions and to ensure that they are sensitive to the cultural values and sentiments of the communities they serve.
“I was deeply troubled by the use of a derogatory term in one of the shows on Netflix – Big Bang Theory. This term was used in reference to the acclaimed actress Madhuri Dixit, and it was not only offensive and deeply hurtful but also showed a lack of regard for her dignity,” Kumar mentioned in a statement.

The streamer on the hindsight could not respond to it immediately.
