Looks like Taika Waititi Thor: Love and Thunder , like its predecessor, will opt for a humorous and flirty and fun narrative. Of all the hilarious comedic sequences in Thor: Ragnarok , a particularly stunning and fantastic play was the portrayal of an Asgardian play, a staging in the movie of Loki’s “disappearance” in The Dark World . And on top of that, the scene had actors Sam Neil, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth representing Odin, Loki, and Thor, respectively.
The scene had no significant connection to the movie or the MCU, but it was fun to see those familiar Hollywood faces collaborating with the star cast, and that too in a Marvel movie. Apparently, Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth will be returning for Love and Thunder as well, and quite possibly like their previous roles, the reincarnations of Loki and Thor.
In the set photos that surfaced on Twitter , both Matt Damon and Luke Hemsworth are wearing the exact same outfits that Chris Hemsworth (real Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (real Loki) wore when they met Doctor Strange, followed of their father, Odin’s death, and Hela’s eventual release from prison. From what it seems, there could be a staging of the same sequence once again. Maybe Taika Waititi plans to start her film with a recap of the past, but in her humorous way; and what good option than to play a recap with “actors”.
Plus, it’s the MCU thing to give a nod to the little details and moments from previous films. Earlier this year, in the Disney + WandaVision series , Jimmy Woo of Randall park introduces himself to Agent Monica Rambeau by pulling his FBI card out of his sleeve. In Ant-Man , Woo showed an interest in these card tricks after watching Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang master them. While these details seem genuinely insignificant, fans love these little moments of connection, which also contribute to character development.
Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok brought a whole new kind of humor-action mix. The film portrayed Thor in a whole new light and made some serious character development changes for Loki and Bruce Banner. The film ultimately gave tons of boats in the box office returns to Marvel and proved to be a decent relief right before the next dark and twisted MCU entry. Avengers: Infinity War . This is likely the reason why Marvel renewed “Thor” Hemsworth’s contract and sanctioned Thor’s fourth film, which would be the first time in the MCU that a character has gotten more than a trilogy.
