An Atmospheric disturbance has developed in the southwest Bay of Bengal, therefore, the eastern coast is put on alert as a tropical cyclone may attempt to brew in it this week. AccuWeather Meteorologist Evan Duffey said: “Conditions are conducive enough for any tropical low over the Bay of Bengal to strengthen into a depression, deep depression and perhaps even a cyclone around the middle of the week”.
The expected steering winds over the Bay of Bengal this week will the potential cyclone northward.”
Residents from Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland and West Bengal should review what preparations would need to be taken if a tropical system threatens with flooding rain later next week.
Effect On Chennai Rains
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of heavy rains in Chennai and other coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. According to the weather officer, Chennai recorded the highest rainfall of 11 cm in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 AM Monday.
