Nicholas Winton Was Sitting Next To 669 Children He Saved 49 Years Ago During World War II

Sir Nicholas George Winton, the man who rescued 669 children from Czechoslovakia on the eve of the Second World War in an operation later known as the Czech Kindertransport. The world found out about his work after 49 years. According to the Bored Panda, In 2003 Winton was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and was also awarded the highest honor of the Czech Republic, the Order of the White Lion.

In 1988, he appeared on a UK television program called That’s Life! Interestingly, as a member of the audience, he was totally unaware that the people sitting around him were alive only because of him.
