Online users couldn’t help but convert Nitish Kumar’s political backflip into a meme as he assumed the role of chief minister for the eighth time in Bihar. With a lot of humor and artistic flair, they painted JD(U) president Nitish Kumar’s most recent political stunts in a humorous light, making internet users laugh heartily.
Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar swore in Nitish Kumar at Raj Bhavan in front of top politicians, including J P Nadda, the national head of the BJP. This occurred just hours after he told the Grand Alliance and opposition bloc INDIA that “things were not working well” for him in his resignation from the office.
Nitish’s freshly formed team
BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and former Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, who were designated as Deputy Chief Ministers, were among those who took the oath of office. The oath was also taken by JD(U) members Shrawan Kumar, Vijendra Yadav, and Vijay Kumar Choudhary. In addition, independent legislator Sumit Singh and Santosh Kumar Suman of the Hindustan Awam Morcha, led by former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, were sworn in.
Reactions
Tejashwi Yadav, ex-Deputy CM, wrote, “The JD(U) will be destroyed in the upcoming assembly polls.” He added, “The game is not over for us. The game has just begun.”
Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi’s elder brother criticised him. His Singapore-settled elder sister Rohini Acharya compared him to “chameleon.”
Nitish Kumar came under heavy fire from the CPI(ML) Liberation, which was providing outside support to the Mahagathbandhan government, with charges of “betrayal.”
Prashant Kishor, a former political strategist turned politician, too disparaged Kumar, stating: “Switching sides has become part of his politics” and added that the BJP might end up paying “a huge price” for supporting the JD(U) chief who had ditched it in August 2020.
