The world world was eagerly waiting since the time Nokia announced that it would be making a comeback in the smartphone market at some point in 2017 with a new Android based smartphone.
The company has now confirmed that it will be releasing it’s Android based smartphone NOKIA 6 this year. Amid all the excitement of Nokia rolling out smartphones again, here’s the catch ! It’s only available in China.
As it was expected, the NOKIA 6 will run on Android Nougat which is the seventh major version of Google’s operating system as confirmed by HMD Global. This will give the smartphone an edge over the previously windows based smartphones of Nokia, allowing it to tap into the wide range of third-party Android applications available on the market.
The Nokia 6 is clearly playing in the mid-range market.
The company outlined that the phone was machined out of aluminum, and which featured a 2.5D Gorilla Glass screen, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with X6 LTE modem. The phone also comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and runs an Android Nougat operating system. The phone will also feature a 16MP rear camera and a 8MP front facing camera.
The handset will go on sale ‘early in 2017’ and will be available exclusively in China through a partnership with retailer JD.com. Although a date for public availability has not been announced, HMD’s CEO Arto Nummela has previously told Forbes that “it is good practice to go on sale very soon after a launch.”
