There is a piece of positive news for all the people who are facing delays in settlement of various claims. As the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), the organization managing the retirement fund, has launched a multi-location claim settlement facility for speedy settlement of various claims. The Ministry of Labor said in a statement that under the new system, the existing system of geographical jurisdiction for claim settlement has been changed.
According to the new arrangement, payment of any claim will be possible from anywhere and from any regional office of EPFO. In this facility, all types of online applications related to provident fund, pension fund, partial withdrawal, and other claims and claim transfer will now be processed from anywhere. It will provide greater comfort to the account holders and will reduce the time taken for payment of claims.
Due to corona crises the settlement of the claim is being delayed, and has affected the functioning of the 135 regional offices of the EPFO. During this time very limited staff is working in Mumbai, Thane, Haryana, and Chennai region and has greatly increased the number of pending claims in these offices. As of result settlement is being delayed. But due to this facility, the delay will be reduced by sharing the work related to claim disposal equally in all offices. This multi-location claim facility will be beneficial for more than six crore customers.
