For the first time, Tribeca will feature text-to-video short films created with OpenAI’s innovative tool, Sora. About Sora and the Filmmakers
OpenAI launched Sora in February 2024. It is an advanced AI tool that can create longer video sequences with realistic characters and smooth movements from a single prompt. Where other tools that can only generate short, three-second clips, Sora can produce multiple shots, enhancing the storytelling experience for filmmakers.
This year to created unique short films for the festival using Sora. Five talented filmmakers have been chosen. These include actress and filmmaker Bonnie Discepolo, filmmaker Ellie Foumbi, writer and director Nikyatu Jusu, genre-bending filmmaker Reza Sixo Safai, and Emmy-winning director Michaela Ternasky-Holland. Their films will be screened on June 15, 2024, in New York City.
