On July 21, Christopher Nolan’s film Oppenheimer made a theatrical release across the globe with a massive bang. From critics to the audience everyone is in absolute awe of an absolute stellar work portrayed by the ensemble, and the makers.
Here’s a quick sneak peak on how much the actor’s made from the film individually, from Cillian Murphy to Robert Downey Jr.
As per the reports, Murphy was given $10 million for the project, Downey Jr. who portrayed Lewis Strauss, was given $4 million; same as Emily Blunt. Matt Damon was paid $3 million, while Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock were remunerated $1 million for their work in the film.
Being a part of Christopher Nolan’s film is itself an achievement and Cillian Murphy was over the top to fetch the role for Oppenheimer. He felt deeply grateful for being considered for the titular role.
Cillian Murphy averred, “Phone call from Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer was unforgettable. It’s 20 years since I first met Chris, but even at that point, I was a fan, because I had seen Memento and Insomnia ” Murphy met Nolan while auditioning for Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins which was later played by Christian Bale.
He further mentioned, “To get to meet Chris for that movie—which, personally, I always thought was an absurd idea; me playing Batman! —was huge for me. But that meeting led to the character of Scarecrow, and an extraordinary working experience. My feeling ever since has been, if Christopher Nolan asks you to do something, no matter what the size of the part, you just turn up. I was not expecting him to call and ask me to play Oppenheimer. But he did. When I got off the phone, I just sat there rather stunned. I felt very lucky. And then we got to work.”
