Today is one of the memorable days for the cricket lovers and more significantly for the Indian fans who watched or somewhere heard from their guardians about the historic World Cup win for team India under the dominating captaincy of Kapil Dev.

It was this day in 1983 when India’s win shocked the world as the so-called “underdogs” were ready to take the challenge against West Indies. The key fact of the World Cup was the captain’s 175* knock against Zimbabwe but the hard-core fans understand the depth each player put in to lift that historical cup.

Emotions carry out when it comes to 2nd April when veteran Dhoni guided India for their World Cup quest after 24 long years but many few people of today’s generation might give importance to the maiden title won by team India.

Recently, Rob Miller-directed movie 83 was released based on the 1983 win of team India, starring stars like Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. The film can be watched on Netflix anytime.

ICC recalls the magical moment of India’s quest for their maiden World Cup Win and shares the absolute highlights of the 83’ win by the Indian champions.
