In a shocking incident, what appears to an open threat to the film Padmavati, the body of a 40-year-old man identified as Chetan Saini was found hanging at Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur. a suicide note was also found with a message,
“Hum putle nahin jalate …. latkate hain ” (we don’t burn effigies, we hang them).”

The Rajasthan Police are looking at it as a murder case and the incident is said to be a sign of protest against the release of the movie. Karni Sena founder, Lokendra Singh said it has to be examined if the person was suffering from any mental problems and appeals to the people to not take such steps.
“This is not the way to send a message. If anyone wants to send out a message of such sort, it is imparting a wrong message. Opposition to Padmavati is justified, but this is not justified.”
Earlier, BJP Leader Suraj Pal Amu had also threatened Bhansali and Deepika, “I want to congratulate the Meerut youth for announcing Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika, and Bhansali. We will reward the ones beheading them, with Rs 10 crore, and also take care of their family’s needs.”
