The Pakistan Cricket Board has placed Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi in Category A of the recently announced white-ball and red-ball contracts. There are only two other players who received both contracts: pacer Hasan Ali and opener Imam-ul-Haq. The board now has separate contracts for various formats for the first time. The annual contracts will take effect on July 1st.
RED AND WHITE-BALL CONTRACTS (5):
Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi (all Category A), Hasan Ali (red-ball Category B, white-ball Category C) and Imam-ul-Haq (red-ball Category C, white-ball Category B)
In addition to these, 10 players received red-ball contracts, while 11 received white-ball contracts. Seven players—up from three last year—have received spots on the Emerging Contract List.
All match fees have increased by 10%, with the exception of the match fee for non-playing members, which has gone up from 50% to 70% of the total match fee. To compensate the team captain for the additional duties associated with that position, a captaincy allowance has been introduced.
