Pakistan is secretly developing new types of nuclear weapons to strengthen its military power against foreign nations. US’ intelligence chief has issued a warning that these weapons include short-range tactical missiles that bring more risks to the whole region. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats’ told lawmakers during a Congressional hearing:
“Pakistan continues to produce nuclear weapons and develop new types of nuclear weapons, including short-range tactical weapons, sea-based cruise missiles, air-launched cruise missiles, and longer-range ballistic missiles.”
Coats further added: “These new types of nuclear weapons will introduce new risks for escalation of dynamics and security in the region.”
Pakistan supports terrorist groups
Also, Coats clearly explained that Pakistan is supporting various terrorist groups which would continue to carry out attacks inside India. Terrorists will continue to take advantage of their safe haven in Pakistan to plan and conduct attacks in India and Afghanistan.
He highlighted that the ongoing relations between India-Pakistan are likely to remain tense, with continued violence on the Line of Control.
