On Wednesday, a Rajasthan High Court Judge, Mahesh Chandra Sharma, shared a bewildering view, when he described that Peacock is a national bird because it does not have sex with peahen and is a lifelong brahamachari. Moreover, the peahen gets pregnant after swallowing the tears of the peacock.
He gave the verdict on cows and ordered the center government to consider making the cow as the national animal of India. Besides, in his verdict, he also recommended the government of Rajasthan that the penalty for cow killing should be a life term.
According to the DNA, Sharma said: “I have cited all these holy books to show how important the cow is in ancient literature. I have even quoted the Gita. This verdict is a call of the soul and even though it is not binding on all the other states except Rajasthan, I hope other states follow this verdict.”
He further gave the example of Nepal as they declared Cow as its national animal. Justice Sharma in order to show the importance of cow has quoted all the Vedas, Samaveda, Rigveda, Atharvaveda, Yajurveda, as well as Ramayana and Mahabharata in his 140-page verdict.
Recently, the Uttarakhand HC said that Ganga and Yamuna rivers should be declared as a legal person.
