Commencing from Saturday night, Torrent Gas depreciated the cost of household piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) in seven states by Rs 4-Rs 5 per standard cubic metre and Rs 6-Rs 8.25 per kilogram, respectively.
According to the company’s official statement, the Union Cabinet’s decision to change the domestic natural gas pricing criteria is what led to the decrease in CNG and PNG costs. Torrent Gas is active in 34 districts spread over seven states—Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
In Pune and Punjab, Torrent Gas lowered the cost of CNG by Rs 6 per kg and the cost of PNG by Rs 5 per SCM. CNG costs have dropped between Rs 6 and Rs 8.25 per kg in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, while domestic PNG costs have dropped by Rs 4-5 per SCM.
The business that runs 17 CNG stations in Junagadh lowered the cost of domestic PNG by Rs 4 per SCM and domestic CNG by Rs 6 per kg.
Jinal Mehta, Director, Torrent Gas averred, “The revised domestic natural gas pricing guidelines enabling us to significantly reduce the CNG and Domestic PNG prices. The revised gas pricing guidelines will help reduce the volatility in CNG and Domestic PNG prices in the country and the long-term roadmap will encourage large scale adoption of CNG and Domestic PNG across the country.”
