Director Richie Mehta after winning an International Emmy Award for his police procedural Delhi Crime is now working on a new series called Poacher. This show will drive your attention to the illegal hunting of elephants in Kerala’s jungles. It is a crime saga that revolves around the elephant poaching racket Actress Alia Bhatt is co-producing the series with him.
On Thursday, Alia unveiled the trailer of Poacher on her Instagram handle. She described it as “a story about one of the biggest crime groups in India.” The trailer begins with a forest in Kerala, where a gang is hunting an elephant illegally. The story shows investigators talking about how elephant poaching in Kerala had stopped in the 1990s but remerged again now. Led by Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Nimisha Sajayan, the team sets out to bust what could be India’s biggest crime group ever, with a huge amount of money involved around 1 crore. This racket isn’t just in India’s forests; it’s spread worldwide. The series also features Roshan Mathew, who was Alia’s co-star in “Darlings”.

Earlier this week, Alia posted another video on her Instagram. In the video, she was in a jungle, casually dressed and carrying a bag. Her voice in the background, talked about elephant killings in the jungle. She looked shocked as she discovered a, loaded rifle, spent bullet casings, and the terrible outline of a lifeless body. Poacher is a crime series based on real events that investigate the issue of ivory poaching in India. Poacher is jointly produced by QC Entertainment, Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions, and Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.
While shooting for the awareness video and her experience, Alia captioned, “I spent less than a day in the jungle to shoot this awareness video, but it still gave me chills.
