The late Princess Diana’s evening gown broke the record price for one of her gowns sold at auction when it sold for $1.1 million, 11 times its estimate, according to Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles.
Diana debuted the designer Jacques Azagury’s black and blue ballerina-length evening gown in Florence in 1985. According to the auction site, she was also pictured wearing it during a trip to Vancouver a year later.

The dress and matching illustration went up for $1,148,080, according to Julien’s Auctions, which listed them for between $100,000 and $200,000.
“Julien’s now holds the new world record for the most expensive dress worn by Princess Diana sold at auction,” it mentioned in a statement.
The dress consists of a two-tiered blue organza skirt with a belt and bow and a long black velvet bodice embroidered with blue stars.
It was offered for auction as part of the assortment of memorabilia that Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) were selling as part of their four-day “Hollywood Legends” sale.

Diana’s pink chiffon blouse from her 1981 engagement photo with then-Prince Charles, taken by Lord Snowdon, brought $381,000.
The blouse was said to have cost between $80,000 and $100,000. David and Elizabeth Emanuel were the designers of Diana’s wedding dress.
